Chuan Spa launches Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Tui Na range with a luxurious evening of Asian inspired hospitality

(MELBOURNE, 23 October 2008) Last night, guests gathered at The Langham, Melbourne to celebrate the unveiling of Chuan Spa's signature Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Tui Na treatments. They were treated to a preview of signature Tui Na and TCM treatments, and sampled delectable Asian-inspired canapés and cocktails in the Chinese inspired Chuan Spa. Tui Na will join the spa's signature TCM Chuan Harmony massage and its range of 31 other treatments.

The Tui Na massage is a 1 hour body treatment incorporating acupressure to bring the body into balance. In line with all Chuan Spa TCM treatments, the new massage is guided by the TCM pillars of Wu Xing (Five Elements), Yin & Yang and Jing Luo (the meridian system).

Through the application of deep tissue massage and manipulation techniques, this new Chuan Spa TCM treatment focuses on achieving a more harmonious Qi (energy flow) through the body, thereby encouraging natural healing. Chuan Spa therapists employ traditional hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the body, acupressure techniques to directly enhance the flow of Qi, and manipulation techniques to realign the muscles and ligaments.

Tui Na is an integral part of TCM and is taught in TCM schools as part of formal Oriental medicine training. Many advanced practitioners and students of East Asian martial arts employ Tui na for the treatment and management of injury and pain due to training.
