The Langham, Melbourne Unveils its Prestigious Lineup for the Iconic Melbourne Food & Wine Festival
MELBOURNE, March 2009 - Melbourne’s enchanting hotel, The Langham Melbourne, will once again host the prestigious Langham Melbourne MasterClass, as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, in 2009 from 9:30am – 4:30pm on the weekend of Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March. The MasterClass will celebrate the world’s best culinary legends and winemakers, and includes the Chef Masterclass, the Theatre of Ideas and The Global Wine Experience. This year, the Langham Melbourne Masterclass will host its most alluring cast of international chef talent, including The Fat Duck’s Heston Blumenthal (UK), Le Châteaubriand’s Iñaki Aizpitarte (France) and The French Laundry’s Thomas Keller (US), as well as other great culinary luminaries, including Maggie Beer, Carlo Cracco, Philip Howard, Jean-Paul Jeunet and Dieter Müller. The Langham Melbourne MasterClass marks the third consecutive year the elegant five-star hotel is hosting this internationally acclaimed food & wine festival.

As part of the celebrations, The Langham Melbourne is extending a limited number of rooms at a “MasterClass Delegate” rate of $295.00 for a Classic Room and $335.00 for a Riverview Room, with the special rate being available from 19 – 23 March. “MasterClass Delegates” will also enjoy exclusive MasterClass Welcome Drinks on Friday 20 March, where they can join other food and wine lovers from Australia and around the world in raising their glasses, glimpsing chefs, and celebrating the start of their unforgettable MasterClass experience at Alto Rooftop in The Langham.
With other Melbourne Food & Wine activities such as the Cellar Door at Southgate (a bustling riverside wine market with more than 60 of Victoria’s boutique wineries from 12pm – 5pm on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March) in close proximity to The Langham, the hotel is the perfect base to indulge in the hundreds of events presented by the festival, returning at sunset to be lavished by The Langham’s signature luxury, romance, warmth and style.

The 2009 Langham Melbourne Masterclass will take place on Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd March 2009 from 9:30am – 4:30pm, and cost $295 for a full day and $550 for a weekend. Guests can mix and match from the

The Global Wine Experience or attend the limited wine sessions which are available for individual purchase at $85 each. The
Chef Masterclass is held in The Langham, with guests being treated to exclusive demonstrations and tastings with local and internationally-renowned chefs. Guests will also be given the recipes and let in on their chosen chef’s secrets, should they wish to recreate the taste sensations.
The
Theatre of Ideas will take place at the Melbourne Recital Centre, with transport provided to and from The Langham. The
Theatre of Ideas provides guests with the chance to ‘access the ideas and inspiration of the globe’s elite chefs’, with their chosen chefs sharing the thoughts that drive their cuisine. The
Global Wine Experience will take place at The Langham, and feature renowned international winemakers who will ‘showcase a vast array of wines of different styles, varieties and countries’.
All MasterClass delegates at The Langham will receive morning and afternoon tea, lunch from Convent Bakery, Coffex coffee experiences, a MasterClass recipe book with full recipes and wine tasting notes, a copy of
